CHRISTMAS BAUBLES KIT

Decorating the tree has always been one of my favourite Christmas moments - pulling out ornaments that remind me of long-ago holidays, and of cherished family members and friends. I hope this little piece brings you some Christmas cheer and happy memories too.

This design has a stitch count of 95w x 43h and uses full crosses over two, some backstitches and a few Smyrna Crosses. In my model, I used two strands of floss over two threads of linen for the cross-stitches & one strand for the backstitching & Smyrnas. It can be stitched on linen, Aida or evenweave of any count that you prefer.

I've finished it into a pin-pillow stuffed with crushed walnut shells & edged in dark red recycled silk sari ribbon.

Q: I'm a confident beginner – is this Christmas cross stitch kit a stretch for me? A: It's a lovely next step. The bulk of the design is full crosses over two, which you'll already feel at home with. The Smyrna crosses take five minutes to learn from a quick tutorial and add the most satisfying little bursts of texture to the baubles.

Q: What's actually included, and what will I need from home? A: Inside the kit you'll find the Mojo Stitches chart, our exclusive sage green cross stitch fabric, and four 10-metre lengths of Cottage Garden Threads hand-dyed floss (Yule, Leatherbound, Clothbound and Page Turner). You'll want to supply a tapestry needle, small embroidery scissors, and a hoop or frame if you like to work with one.

Q: I'm not in Australia. Can I still order? A: Absolutely. We post worldwide from our studio in Australia, and we have stitchers in New Zealand, the UK and the US working away on our kits right now. Postage is calculated at checkout.

Q: Is it gift-ready for another stitcher? A: It makes a beautiful gift for a fellow maker. Each kit is packaged neatly for posting, and if you pop a note in the order comments at checkout, we'll tuck a handwritten card in alongside the threads.

Q: Where do these colours come from? Can I get them anywhere else? A: The JK threads and our sage green fabric are hand-dyed in small batches in our studio – original colourways that are sold only through Cottage Garden Threads stockists. Each dye lot carries gentle variations from the last, which is part of the quiet charm of working with hand-dyed thread.
