MOJO STITCHES - KANGAROO AVENUE

Inspired by the flora and fauna with whom we share our neighbourhoods, this new series will travel all over, exploring and celebrating our shared environment as home.

‘Kangaroo Avenue’ harkens back to a job I had as a teenager, working with a lot of tourists, who were often terribly disappointed that kangaroos weren’t hopping down the main street of Sydney! It depicts a ‘Federation’ style home, and a Red Kangaroo passing by, under a gum tree. Seeing a kangaroo mob in the wild is always soul lifting, whether bounding past or enjoying the shade in the heat of the day.

This design has a stitch count of 57w x 58h and uses full crosses over two, and some long backstitches. In my model, I used 1 strand of floss over two threads of linen. It is suitable for beginners to advanced stitchers, and can be stitched on linen, Aida or evenweave of any count that you prefer.

Model stitched on 32-count ‘Platinum’ by Zweigart, using Cottage Garden Threads hand dyed variegated 6 stranded cotton threads.  The model is finished as a small pillow, but it looks equally good framed.
