Under the River Gum is a beautiful celebration of the Australian landscape and the wildlife that calls it home. Inspired by the majestic River Red Gum, this design features a graceful Intermediate Egret wandering beneath flowering branches, while hidden below are the mighty Murray Cod and the familiar song of summer cicadas.

Originally created for Homespun Australia's Sense of Place edition, this pattern captures the quiet beauty of one of Australia's most treasured ecosystems. Stitched using Cottage Garden Threads, it's a peaceful and distinctly Australian project for anyone who loves native flora, fauna and the stories woven through our natural landscapes.
