GWENNIE'S COTTAGE - ENGLISH PAPER PIECING & EMBROIDERY QUILT PATTERN

My Nanna’s garden was its own world with small spaces tucked between the roses where a little girl could disappear for an afternoon.  Gwennie’s Cottage is the quilt that grew from those memories.  An English paper piecing quilt pattern softened by hand-embroidered cottage motifs, gathered from the pages of our Field Journal Quilt. Hexagons and half-hexagons for slow, satisfying patchwork.  Iron-on transfers for the embroidery.

Why you’ll love it

  • A gentle way into English paper piecing because the pattern walks you through each step in plain, generous language.

  • Two beloved techniques in one quilt, the English paper piecing and hand embroidery sit side by side.

  • Iron-on transfers do the fiddly bit for you and every cottage motif is included as a pre-drawn printed iron-on, so you can skip the tracing and get straight to the needle.

  • A true companion to the Field Journal Quilt.  Gwennie’s Cottage is designed to live happily alongside it, perfect for a tabletop or small space.

  • Curated for the Cottagecore thread and Liberty Tana Lawn because the design has been styled to bloom in soft botanicals.

Frequently asked questions

Q: I’ve never tried EPP before – is this pattern beginner-friendly?

A: It is. The English paper piecing quilt pattern is written to introduce the technique step by step, with clear illustrations and gentle pacing. If you can thread a needle and follow a line, you can stitch Gwennie’s Cottage.

Q: What do I need to supply myself if I just buy the pattern?

A: The booklet includes full instructions and iron-on transfers for all the embroidery. You’ll need to source your own fabric, paper pieces, hexagon templates, threads and basic embroidery kit. If you’d rather have it all in one bundle, we also stock the matching Gwennie’s Cottage kit.

Q: Where will it ship from?

A: Your pattern is dispatched from our studio in Australia, carefully wrapped for the journey. We ship to AU, NZ, the UK, the US and Canada - checkout will show the most current options for your address.

Q: Why is it called Gwennie’s Cottage?

A: Gwennie was Katie’s Nanna and her cottage garden held the kind of small, private little corners that stay with you for life.  The quilt is a quiet love letter to those memories and a companion to our Field Journal Quilt for those collecting the series.
